The Redbucks: A Stompin’ Good Ole Time

I used to think I hated country music. It was the one genre of music I could not stand to hear. I swear it made my ears bleed. OK, I’m being just a little dramatic, but the point is that I am not a country music fan…or at least I thought I wasn’t.
All my preconceptions of country music changed when I went to see the The Redbucks perform live at Jiangjinjiu 将进酒 酒吧 last month. Not only did I love every minute of their performance, I found myself dancing around the room, buying their CD “All That Glitters” and then going home and playing it on repeat for two days straight.
Have I been converted to country music? I’m not so sure, but I do know I am now a massive, die-hard fan of The Redbucks. An ensemble of fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, upright bass and “soul-wilting” vocals, The Redbucks are a mix of bluegrass, old-time, and country (or Americana if you will), and they may be my one special exception to country music.

Unlike theBeijinger and Time Out magazines, CityWeekend lumps both the Dining & Nightlife Award Categories into one evening rather than split it up into two events. And for the first time this year, CityWeekend changed it up and actually kept the vote count visible to the public and made sure that every voter had a validated CW User Name Account.
