It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year!
The Hutong’s Winter Fayre is one of their biggest community events of the year and it also happens to be where I plan to do most of my Christmas shopping every year.
While many of Beijing’s Christmas bazaars and fairs have all been taking place across the city in various embassies and hotels over the past couple weekends, The Hutong’s Winter Fayre may be one of the smaller fayres in terms of its number of vendors and sheer capacity, but it makes up for its size with its merry vibes and abundance of spiced mulled wine.
Taking place this Saturday, December 9th from 11AM-4PM, this is a great place to stock up on prezzies for the holidays and also a great place to meet and learn about some pretty crafty and talented companies who will be showcasing the best of their merchandise!

Sign Up to Join the Hutong’s Red Cliffs & Tibetan Monasteries Trip to Qinghai
Qinghai is one of the frontiers of adventure travel in China, a springboard for China’ wildest, untouched areas begging to be discovered and explored. Located on the northeastern part of the Tibetan Plateau, Qinghai is a province in China surrounded by Gansu Province on the north and east, Xinjiang Province on the west, Tibet on the south and Sichuan on the southeast. Home to many Tibetan monasteries, vast grasslands, the headwaters of the three of Asia largest rivers – the Yellow River, the Yangtze River and Mekong River, the area boasts a mosaic of ethnic groups, including Tibetan, Mongols, Tu, Goloks and Hui with a vibrant religious life.

The Hutong’s Gorgeous Rooftop will host their annual Summer Fayre this Saturday, June 11!
The hutongs in Beijing are best viewed in summer when the trees are lush and green and everyone is out and about proudly sporting their Beijing “bikini” (and by everyone, I mean men with their white tanks knotted up and their beer bellies out for all to admire). Oh, the summer months in Beijing are a glorious time of year and somehow always feel far too short so you’ve got to savor them while you can!
The Hutong has got the right idea with their awesome annual Summer Fayre. While everyone knows that The Hutong’s Christmas fayre is the jolliest of them all with their abundant pots of spiced mulled wine and effervescent holiday cheer all around, their gorgeous rooftop has never looked better than at their summer fayre packed with plenty of artisan food items and plenty of sunshine.
“Here comes the sun! Drop by our Hutong to get together, meet old friends and make new ones, and munch and sip in our cozy courtyard. To celebrate all things summer, we will be serving attendees a free glass of our secret-recipe Hutong Summer Fruit Punch. Make a toast with your ice-cold glass, taste gourmet goodies from Beijing culinary artisans and restaurateurs, savor some of the capital’s best local brews, and try out some summertime jewelry and apparel.” - The Hutong

The Hutong’s Winter Fayre is one of their biggest community events of the year and it also happens to be where I end up doing most of my Christmas shopping every year.
Most of Beijing’s Christmas bazaars and fairs have all been taking place across the city in various embassies and hotels over the past couple weekends, but The Hutong’s Winter Fayre is the LAST Christmas Bazaar of the year and it’s taking place this Saturday, December 12th from 11AM-4PM.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors with The Hutong’s Harvest Festival with Great Leap
This Saturday, October 24th, The Hutong is teaming up with Great Leap Brewing to host Beijing’s Harvest Festival.
In a charming little village called Tianxianyu located just below the Mutianyu and Jiankou section of the Great Wall, The Hutong and Great Leap gang will be sharing one of their favorite escapes just outside Beijing for a full day of BBQ, craft beer and games.
“To celebrate a bountiful harvest, we will be barbecuing pigs and fish, pouring Great Leap harvest-themed beers, competing in old-school field day games, and cap it off with campfire stories around a bonfire. No matter how you spend the day, it’s a great way to enjoy a day with family and friends.” – The Hutong
