North Side Meets South Side: A Handsome Line-Up of Talented Chefs
The boys at the Georg like to play and the kitchen is their playground.
Where all the new dish creations are first tested, plated and tasted, their kitchen has been action-packed as they’ve been busy cranking out a new winter dinner menu, new “Fat Freddy’s Brunch” menu and even a new lunch menu featuring all the tasty smørrebrøds that was launched at the joint pop-up with Moka Bros last month.
As productive as they’ve been, I suppose “boys will be boys” as Georg’s general manager Stefano Censi who is half Danish/half Italian thought it’d be good fun to bring in a fellow Italian chef for a month-long stint and, in his words, to balance out the ratio of Danish to Italian in the kitchen.

To turn your attention away from the nauseating election results in the US of A, I am going to tantalize your taste buds with a nordic specialty by a country that has their shit together.
“According to the World Happiness Report, the Scandinavian nation that is Denmark has been rated the happiest country, and has been in the top 3 ever since the survey began. The combination of a long and healthy life expectancy, freedom to make your own choices and a noticeably higher level of generosity and trust than other countries, makes this fact about the colourful country, Denmark unsurprising. Not sure about you, but we’re thinking of packing up our things and eloping to Denmark immediately.” – MOKA Bros Team
So as we consider turning our backs on America for obvious reasons, the talented team at both Moka Bros and the Georg have made a very smart move to join forces to host this pop-up event featuring savoury smørrebrød aka Scandinavian open-faced sandwiches that taste as amazing as they look.
On a little side rant, I have never understood the point of having another piece of bread other than the fact that it makes a sandwich more take-away friendly. But that’s the point of an open-faced sandwich. Danes know how to enjoy their food and calling this a “type of sandwich” is already very misleading. A smørrebrød is not something you want to grab on the run. Trust me, this is worth sitting down and savoring.

The equally exciting, equally mysterious Kitchen X by Time Out Beijing returned last week to mark its first event of 2016.
“Time Out is proud to present Kitchen X – an exclusive, secret ‘supper club’ series that teams up with the top minds in the hospitality world to craft an evening that combines the key elements that make wining and dining so special: anticipation, mystery, indulgence, spontaneity, flavour and, of course, attention to detail. This new dining concept offers the best the city has to offer – with a twist.” - Time Out’s Introduction of Kitchen X
After the refined luxury in Copper last time, the team at Time Out wanted to throw in a few surprises for their loyal and adventurous fine-dining guests this second time around.

Garden Brunch at the Georg Every Sunday
The boys at the Georg seem to do things their own way and their approach to Sunday brunch is exactly in line with the playful yet focused take on food that’s been generating such a buzz around what seems to be Beijing’s most talked about new restaurant.
Far from a hotel-style buffet brunch (thank goodness!), the feeling of the Georg’s newly launched Garden Brunch is as fresh in its attitude as it is to the dishes you are served. The title of their menu pretty much sums it up – “beats, rhymes and brunch”.
