The Next Underground Bunker Rave will be in South Sanlitun’s BASEMENT-1

Gearing up for the third round of the underground bunker rave series, they’ve managed to lock in a venue in the chaos that is South Sanlitun at Basement-1 venue.

Though it’s admittedly not an underground bunker (currently in search for the next perfect bunker location!), it is an underground club that begins behind a mysterious iron gate and leads down into an “industrial grunge style space with funky details”.

“The club is new, easy to find, and its underground! Even if this location is not exactly a bunker, it follows the style and fashion of our Bunker series, being underground and new unique place. All our parties will always be in different locations, so don’t worry, the next one will still be an even bigger surprise.” – Miao Linda Li

Warm Up to Spring: JUE Market @FACE

After the Unexpected Postponement, JUE Wraps Up Another Great Year with its Ever Popular JUE Market

Back in its 3rd year, JUE Market was originally scheduled to take place at the off-set of the art and music festival, but due to unexpected circumstances, they had to postpone their most popular event of the festival to coincide with their closing party.

Wrapping up all the elements of JUE, this market day features some of Beijing’s most beloved specialty vendors ranging from fantastic home-brewed craft beer by Jing A Beer and Great Leap Brewing, savory bites by Two Guys and A Pie, Yunnan by Sue Zhou’s Hani Gejiu, Andy’s Craft Sausages, and delectable desserts by both Sweet Tooth Bakery and Fat Bunny Bakery.

Food and beverages aside, JUE Market will also showcase plenty of crafty vendors selling everything from creative handi-crafts to this year’s newest fashion designs along with a variety of interactive artworks, installations, film screenings, and live musical performances throughout the day.

Two Guys and a Pie Contest: Aussie Pie Showdown

“Only one pie will outwit, outpie & outlast the rest!” 

Instead of training for my Genghis Khan half marathon in the grasslands of Inner Mongolia as I originally planned to do last Wednesday night with Heyrobics‘ Running Team, I was summoned for pie jury duty by Beijing’s pie kings Matt & Andrew, co-founders of the Aussie meat pie cult Two Guys and a Pie. And yes, I do have my priorities in order, thank you very much.

This was not me giving in to gluttony, this is me fulfilling an honorable duty to help friends in need, to give closure to an unanswered question, to give the Beijing community what they want, what they need – a new pie winner!! This was a selfless act, an exemplary case of LumDimSum (once again) putting the needs of others before my own. And now that the deed has been done, I have taken it upon myself to share the results of this case with my dear LDS readers…
