Blue Alert! It’s a WHALE! Emergency TONIGHT!
WHALE! is holding a last-minute emergency party tonight, Friday, January 27, 2012 at the newly opened 4corners肆角餐吧 bar by the Drum and Bell Tower in Gulou.
Previously, WHALE! parties were rocking Beijing with monthly gigs around town, but since winter hit, it’s been a few months without some WHALE! fun.
DJ Goldie is back in Beijing for the fourth time (that’s how much we love this guy) and he is back playing at Yugongyishan tonight Friday, December 23 at 10PM.
His previous set in 2008 was voted “Night of the Year” in theBeijinger’s Bar & Clubs awards where he “played an unbelievable 4-hour mix of unreleased tracks that tore Yugong Yishan to pieces.”
More than just a DJ, Goldie’s also an actor with a role in Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch” and the James Bond film “The World is Not Enough”. This guy also happens to be a graffiti artist, drum ‘n’ bass icon, DJ and producer.
“Danny Rampling is a bonafide music visionary and a revolutionary dance music pioneer. “
Dance fanatics, TONIGHT head over to PUNK tonight as British dance music pioneer Danny Rampling will be behind the decks spinning his trance-dance tracks.
“Rampling is firmly back in the musical limelight, where he belongs, sharing his passion for music with a wealth of experience as we journey forward through the unprecedented evolution of contemporary culture.”
Free cover before 11PM (it’s RMB 50 after 11PM), so get there early and get the party started..for the rest of us who will be stumbling in after midnight!
“Peter Kruder is one of those emblematic names that lead a whole decade and inspire myriads of DJs, producers and clubbers all over the world. And as successful as he is, he never lost track of the underground.”
TONIGHT (Saturday, November 12, 2011) Remix Maestro Peter Kruder is DJing at Club Tango.
Whether with Kruder & Dorfmeister, Voom:Voom or his solo project Peace Orchestra, Vienna’s Peter is widely recognized for being responsible for some of the finest electronic music in the last thirteen years.
“It’s very exciting stuff, not just because of Kruder’s rock-solid abilities as a DJ, but because of his stature in the scene, being the cofounder of G-Stone Recordings and instrumental in making Vienna one of the world centres of dance music.” – Ross Goulding, Time Out’s Nightlife Editor (click here for full article)
Oliver $ is a Berlin born and based DJ/Producer currently releasing music with famous labels MADE TO PLAY, Grand Petrol, and Front Room Recording and he’s bringing his sick house beat to Punk TONIGHT (Saturday, October 22, 2011).
“Oliver $ production has always been solid, but his most recent work has propelled him to limelight and making him one of Europe’s rising stars and most sought after acts.” – Punk in The Opposite House
Some of his top tracks include the hit song by Aloe Blacc “I need a Dollar” and “Doing Ya Thang,” which became, easily, one of the summers surprise hits. The track was on the top 5 of the BEATPORT charts for 5 weeks, and still in the top seller.
What WHALE! looked like at 4AM
Friday night would not stop raining, Temple Bar is not the easiest place to find on a dark, rainy night, there were technical difficulties, there was a wire that blew and made our eyes sting, by 1AM, the po-po had already forced WHALE!’s music volume down…and even that didn’t stop the dancing frenzy that took on a life of it’s own.
Maybe it was the good vibes, maybe the music was so good it didn’t matter that it wasn’t loud enough, maybe it was one-too-many “blowhole” cocktails, but boy was it another WHALE! of a good time.
Thanks to a fun WHALE! line-up: Assassin Eyes, Bobby Dropper, DJ Fun Party, DJ Crumbum and DJ Dirty Pirate...but DJ Je Ne Sais Quoi, where were you??!? After all that hype around this special guest DJ, the fans were slightly heartbroken he never made it. Perhaps some day WHALE! will be graced by the presence of the high and mighty Je Ne Sais Quoi…one can only hope.
While many will be out Wednesday night lighting up Beijing’s sky into a fire works war zone, PUNK (Opposite House) gives Beijingers an outlet to hop/dance their way into the Rabbit Year with the legendary Stretch Armstrong alongside PUNK’s resident DJ Saul D.
“A love for both house music and New York’s hip hop mix shows has led him to start a ‘mash-up’…the beginning of a genre that rules clubs worldwide today.”
