8-Bit: Complete with Video Games Galore, Craft Beer + Sushi
Located on the north end of Beiluoguxiang, near the 2nd ring road, 8-Bit is a novel concept for Beijing.
“Beijing’s first retro game bar, 8-BIT provides comfortable surroundings, a full array of quality alcohol and, of course, a classic lineup of 80s and 90s consoles, games and competitions. Providing genuine retro gaming on original old-skool consoles (none of that simulator bullsh*t), 8 BIT Bar has invested in collectible, fully working versions of vintage favorites like the NES, SNES, Atari, Mega Drive and the (Super) Game Boy.” - 8-Bit’s Facebook Page
Spread over 3 floors, it is a video gaming bar, another video gaming bar and a rooftop terrace. The ground floor has Arrow Factory beers on tap and a selection of 7 different gaming options including N64, Gamecube, PlayStation 2 amongst others.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors with The Hutong’s Harvest Festival with Great Leap
This Saturday, October 24th, The Hutong is teaming up with Great Leap Brewing to host Beijing’s Harvest Festival.
In a charming little village called Tianxianyu located just below the Mutianyu and Jiankou section of the Great Wall, The Hutong and Great Leap gang will be sharing one of their favorite escapes just outside Beijing for a full day of BBQ, craft beer and games.
“To celebrate a bountiful harvest, we will be barbecuing pigs and fish, pouring Great Leap harvest-themed beers, competing in old-school field day games, and cap it off with campfire stories around a bonfire. No matter how you spend the day, it’s a great way to enjoy a day with family and friends.” – The Hutong

Arrow Factory Taproom Opens Just Inside Stuff’d
While Arrow Factory craft beer have been served in Will Yorke’s various restaurant locations around town, they’ve recently just opened their very own taproom just inside of Stuff’d on Jian Chang Hutong 箭厂胡同 (just around the corner from Wudaoying Hutong). In what used to be the space they previously used to home brew all their beers, partners Will Yorke and Thomas Gaestidius have expanded into a bigger facility in Charcoal BBQ restaurant in Shunyi (one of the several outlets serving Arrow Factory Craft Beer.
So they’ve taken this little space just tucked behind the bathrooms of Stuff’d restaurant (home of Beijing’s best British fare) and turned it into their very own cozy little taproom. With a bar in the back with 12 taps available to showcase their rotating selection of brews, prices range between RMB 35-55 each.

Ok…for realsies now! The 3rd Great Leap Opens Their Doors!
It’s crazy how much time has passed since we last heard about Great Leap Brewing‘s 3rd location opening! I just checked and realized that the last time I wrote to announce the imminent arrival of Great Leap’s 3rd location north of Sanlitun was way back when (specifically in June last year)…seems like everyone jumped the gun a bit early on that one!
Just when you almost started to forget there was a third one on its way, half a year later and… BOOM! Great Leap surprises all with its last-minute announcement that they’re finally ready to start hosting guests this weekend for soft opening tastings- January 24 & 25th!
If you’re in town and keen to check out one of Beijing’s most highly anticipated openings, be sure you rally up friends (best if it’s in groupings of 8) and be the cool one in your group to take charge in making a booking in advance!

In an effort to raise as much money for this year’s chosen charity Orbis, BJ FOoDiEs will be rallying their loyal following of die-hard foodies for a final feast at 京A Taproom in 1949 The Hidden City in South Sanlitun together with George Smith, managing director of Orbis North Asia.

Great Leap Hosts Beijing’s First Invitational Craft Beer Festival
Sometimes it’s good to get a reality check and break free of the Beijing bubble and remember that there’s more beyond our 6th ring borders. As much as Beijing’s craft beer community has blossomed over the past 5 years, it’s also nice to see how the rest of the world is getting on in their homebrewing creations.
After Great Leap Brewing hosted their third annual Beijing Craft Beer Festival this summer at Galaxy SOHO, they’re finishing 2014 off strong by launching Beijing’s first Invitational Craft Beer Festival (BICBF) in conjunction with XIX Spirit to bring over international craft beer brand names to Beijing for the very first time from November 14-16 at EAST Beijing Hotel.
“This festival is designed around established international and greater China brands, giving them access to the Beijing market and allowing local drinkers an opportunity to see the grander scale of craft beer.” - Lucía Wang, PR & Events Director of Great Leap Brewing
