The Hutong’s Winter Fayre is one of their biggest community events of the year and it also happens to be where I end up doing most of my Christmas shopping every year.
Most of Beijing’s Christmas bazaars and fairs have all been taking place across the city in various embassies and hotels over the past couple weekends, but The Hutong’s Winter Fayre is the LAST Christmas Bazaar of the year and it’s taking place this Saturday, December 12th from 11AM-4PM.

A Very White Christmas
Since I landed in San Francisco last week, I’ve been a busy lady bouncing between Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, and the Bay Area. It’s been a couple days since my last LDS post, but I hope you understand why I’ve given myself a few days off (I’ve basically been in a food coma for a week straight).
With my family by my side, we’ve had our fair share of playing in the snow, hot chocolate and board games by the fire, and lots and lots of fresh California air. And I need to get outdoors and active with an unstoppable grandma who loves to spoil her grandchildren cooking up all our favorite dishes alongside my cousin who loves to get creative in the kitchen. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve had a week straight of eating an obscene amount of too-good-to-not-eat-grub that has kept me in a happy food coma since I’ve been home.
Luck has been on our side as we were given 6 feet of snowfall as soon as we arrived to Tahoe and enough Christmas cheer and good food to keep my family from bickering for…at least 30 minutes….maybe 15.

LumDimFamily Christmas Table
Nothing quite compares to a proper holiday meal. It is the meal we look forward to all year long. Of course it’s always an added benefit to be surrounded by family and loved ones, but even just the food alone is something worth noting.
Lucky for you, Beijing is full of both impressive and affordable options for you and your loved ones to choose from.
Take advantage as this is the one time of year when you’re obliged to feast to your heart’s content, eating your way through full turkeys, hunky slices of honey-glazed ham, and as much Christmas pudding, boxes of chocolate and Santa’s cookies as you can stomach. And the best part is that you don’t have to worry about packing on a couple extra pounds because it will be hidden under all those additional layers of clothing!

California is about 16 hours behind Beijing, so please forgive the belated post, but after a peek into my very merry Christmas, I hope that perhaps you’ll understand why I’ve been distracted.

Allow me to share a corny Christmas joke I just love:
What do you get if you cross a snowman with a vampire?
