The Hutong’s Gorgeous Rooftop will host their annual Summer Fayre this Saturday, June 11!
The hutongs in Beijing are best viewed in summer when the trees are lush and green and everyone is out and about proudly sporting their Beijing “bikini” (and by everyone, I mean men with their white tanks knotted up and their beer bellies out for all to admire). Oh, the summer months in Beijing are a glorious time of year and somehow always feel far too short so you’ve got to savor them while you can!
The Hutong has got the right idea with their awesome annual Summer Fayre. While everyone knows that The Hutong’s Christmas fayre is the jolliest of them all with their abundant pots of spiced mulled wine and effervescent holiday cheer all around, their gorgeous rooftop has never looked better than at their summer fayre packed with plenty of artisan food items and plenty of sunshine.
“Here comes the sun! Drop by our Hutong to get together, meet old friends and make new ones, and munch and sip in our cozy courtyard. To celebrate all things summer, we will be serving attendees a free glass of our secret-recipe Hutong Summer Fruit Punch. Make a toast with your ice-cold glass, taste gourmet goodies from Beijing culinary artisans and restaurateurs, savor some of the capital’s best local brews, and try out some summertime jewelry and apparel.” - The Hutong

Pakistani Dinner Spread at Khan Baba
Khan Baba came highly recommended to me by someone who was born and raised in Pakistan and now resides with his family in Beijing. After asking others and hearing nothing but positive remarks, Khan Baba jumped to the top of my restaurant hit list. Ready with an appetite for a full spread after my role model Chef Reshma Khan (who teaches Indian and Pakistani cooking classes at The Hutong) gave me a list of her favorite dishes to try there, I’m happy to introduce fellow foodies to try Khan Baba Pakistani Restaurant.
Located on the top floor of the sadly desolate Sanlitun SOHO, Khan Baba is definitely a destination venue for people who are not fussy about a flashy entrance or dazzling ambiance and all about tasty and authentic Pakistani cuisine. For those who work nearby, take advantage of their awesome lunch deal. Monday through Friday, Khan Baba offers a big lunch buffet for only RMB 55 per person (will need to come back and LDS that).

4Corners Proudly Hosts The Farm to Neighbors Farmers Market
A bustling farmers market that takes place every Sunday from 11AM to 5PM, the Farm to Neighbors event is keeping all hutong hipsters and residents happy and healthy with fresh, organic produce on a weekly basis.
Most people know this farmers market from their days in Modernista Bar on Baochao Hutong, but they’ve since moved to 4Corners Restaurant Bar as of last Sunday and will host here again this Sunday, Jan. 18th. 4Corners’ celebrity chef and owner Jun Trinh will be cooking up a feast with all the beautiful produce being showcased so make sure you head over to their bar area to grab a seat!

The Hutong’s India Culinary Expedition
“Our tour is specially designed for travelers and food lovers who are venturing into India for the first time. We’ve picked destinations that will ensure that the traveler can sample the rich cultural heritage, the numerous religions, traditional folk arts, the varied terrains and above all the diversity of its multi layered cuisine.”
India has been at the top of my bucket list for the past 2 years but the big question for me has always been – how do I eat my way through India’s incredible cuisines without getting sick? How would I know where to go for the best local specialties and what’s best to avoid? I’ve heard of so many horror stories of India trips being ruined by immobilizing stomach bugs and that’s the worst.
