Wolfgang’s Steakhouse (Beijing): A Taste of New York’s Sizzling Steaks

In all my years in Beijing there has never been a clearer signal that Beijing has “made it”, than when another world famous restaurant opens their doors here.

We have Nobu, Morton’s of Chicago Steakhouse, Cheesecake Factory and now we have Wolfgang’s Steakhouse.

For those who don’t know, Wolfgang’s was started in 2004 in New York by Wolfgang Zwiener, who was the head waiter at Peter Luger Steak House. It expanded rapidly and now has 9 branches in the US (with 6 in and around New York) and 10 branches in Asia, including Beijing!

Migas "El Asador" Saturday Brunch

Migas’ Saturday Brunch Gives Diners Spain’s traditional “Asador” Steak House

Always innovating and upping their game, Migas has done it again with their “Asador” Saturday brunch. The only Spanish restaurant in Beijing to have a proper charcoal barbecue oven, they are showcasing this special feature by displaying beautiful cuts of various roasted meat for all!

“Every week, on Saturdays, we will offer you the experience of a traditional ‘Asador’ in Spain, the Spanish Steak House. Our Executive Chef Aitor Olabegoya and head Chef Fernando Martínez Tabernero have created this new brunch concept focusing around the only real charcoal barbeque oven in town! ‘Asadores’ in Spain, and same ‘Rodicios’ in Brazil, are famous for the big roasted meat pieces and dried aged beef cuts – try for example pork ‘al pastor’, marinated chicken and brisket beef slow cooked, or stuffed duck, crispy pork belly and roasted lamb, and the Migas’ signature dish uniquely dry aged Black Angus ‘picaña’ (d-rump).” – The Migas Team

Deli de Luxe: Quaint Little Gourmet Cafe + Food Store

Deli de Luxe Cafe: Lasagna (RMB 60 per order)

Gourmet Food Store, Delivery and Catering all rolled into one Quaint Cafe

You need to get through a side entrance gateway of Parkview Towers to gain access to gourmet food store and quaint little cafe Deli de Luxe (unless you already have their delivery service on your speed dial). There’s even a guard at the gate that you must get past. Best way to know if you’re at the correct spot is to find the entrance directly across from Suzie Wong’s (the west side of Chaoyang Park West Gate).

Deli de Luxe is delightfully lovely if you fancy a nice cup of coffee (made with locally roasted beans and fresh organic milk) alongside a beautifully fresh salad or an excellent slice of cheesecake. I came with a couple of fellow foodies after hitting a round of golf balls at the driving range just around the corner. With the sun was shining, the wooden tables and benches outside were exactly what we had in mind for a relaxing wind-down mid-morning.

Though the cafe is pretty small, the variety is not. They offer a wide range of daily specials (salad, soup, hot dish, risotto), breakfast pastries, muesli, egg croissant sandwiches, organic quiches, toasted Ciabatta sandwiches and a whole list of sweets including their specialty cheesecake with berry coulis. Check out snapshots of their fully-stocked counter and massive open fridge with everything pre-prepped and 95% ready to go.

LumDimSum Discovery: Biteapitta’s Stuffed Zucchini

LumDimSum Discovery: Biteapitta's Stuffed Zucchini

My New Favorite Biteapitta Dish: Stuffed Zucchini with Couscous (RMB 33)

Recently, I find myself consistently coming back to Biteapitta once again (I took a break from Biteapitta for a few months last year – see text below), but this time for something other than my usual Hummus and Falafel Pita Sandwich (RMB 30).

“Stuffed in soft, fresh pita bread, the Hummus & Falafel Pita Sandwich holds about six falafels (fried balls from ground chickpeas) with hummus spread throughout and topped with cucumbers, tomatoes and sour cream.  The falafel is served fresh and hot and is by far, my favorite item on Biteapitta’s menu. It’s perfectly proportioned leaving me full but not stuffed and the combination of hummus and falafel is perfect. And for only RMB 28 (now RMB 30), this is a steal.” – Excerpt from Previous LDS Post Praising Biteapitta’s Hummus & Falafel Sandwich
