Obentos: New Liangmaqiao Branch + New Dining Concept

Since the opening of their second branch in Liangmaqiao’s Grand Summit shopping center, healthy Japanese restaurant Obentos is upping their game with “healthy” dishes never looking or tasting this damn good.

For all my fellow bento-pushers out there, fear not. Obentos’ signature bento lunch boxes, gorgeous salads and healthy smoothies are still there, but there’s now a whole new menu of delightful dish creations ranging in size and categorized into: 6 small plates, 6 main plates, 6 sides plus 2 desserts.

MOKA BROS: New Location in CBD

Moka Bros Opens its 3rd Location in the CBD

CBD denizens rejoice!

After just recently celebrated their two year anniversary with a whole lot of tattoos, Moka Bros has just opened up a new store in The Place Shopping Mall, officially since last Wednesday, the 28th of October. Located just opposite Central Park on the Eastern most side of The Place, it is in a prime position for those of you in Guomao looking for healthy lunch and dinner options.

“We’re excited to join this area of families, offices and embassies, and offer something healthy for the citizens of the CBD. In an area where it’s so common to see suited up men and women running between meetings or picking up kids it’s important to remember to take a breather and refuel your body with superfoods and goodness.” – Chef Daniel Urdaneta

This coming weekend, October 17-18th marks Moka Bros two year anniversary with a long-life commitment to their brand with body art. That’s right, I’m not talking about the 3-day stick-on tattoos that eventually fade away or have to be scratched away, this is the real deal.

Obentos' New Summer Menu

Obentos Releases New Summer Menu Specials!

Obentos has done its Spring cleaning. After updating their smoothie menu, they’ve also completely given their food menu a facelift with both brand-new and revised signature salads, bento boxes and an awesome grain bowl addition (pictured above)!

In anticipation for summer months, they’ve incorporated a lot of seasonal ingredients into their menu choices, which has re-vamped their menu almost entirely. But even though they’ve shrunk their menu options, Obentos regulars can rest assured that they’ve maintained their principles and dedication to healthy meals by narrowing their focus and really boosting each dish with greater taste and nutrition.

“For this summer we have created a bunch of new dishes with our typical signature Obentos health twist. Expect fresh whole foods packed with flavour that will help you tackle the summer heat and make you feel good from the inside out.” – Obentos

MySoup 卖汤: Flower-Filled Cantonese in Central Park

MySoup 卖汤 Restaurant

I’ve Never Seen a Restaurant Filled with So Many Flowers

Known to serve healthy, well-prepared Cantonese cuisine, MySoup 卖汤 restaurant in Central Park (just next to Jamaica Blue and Lime Cafe Thai restaurant) is much more than its name implies. Their menu covers seafood dishes, claypot rice dishes and both soup noodles and boiled dumplings. Their featured soup of the day (RMB 68) changes regularly, but you can always order their Fish Maw Chicken Bouillon Soup (RMB 88).

Ok, but enough about the food because what struck me most about MySoup was not what’s on the menu, but what you see once you step inside.

Walk through the tall glass doors of MySoup is an unbelievable amount of plants, trees, bushes and flowers hanging from the ceiling, from the walls, on the tables, beside your seat, everywhere. It’s an incredible sight and to dine surrounded by so much floral foliage is a luxury that we Beijingers are very much deprived of.

E-West Club: Halloween CarnEVIL Party

Don’t be fooled by these pretty ladies, E-West’s Haunted House is Not for the Fainthearted

I still remember screaming my head off as I slowly made my way through E-West Club’s Haunted House section last year.

With zombies jumping out and trying to grab you at every unexpected corner, shrill laughter echoing down the corridors and unspeakable horrors creeping in and out of the shadows, I’ll hand it to E-West Club for going all out each and every year in putting together Beijing’s most creative and frightening Haunted House party!

Blue Frog's Buy-1-Get-1-Free Burger Mondays: the Mile High (RMB 108) with pan-fried double beer burger wrapped with bacon, cheddar cheese and spicy mayo on a sesame bun, served with crispy onions

Join Blue Frog’s Mile High Club by ordering 2 Mile High Burgers for the Price of 1 Every Monday

For most of my foodie friends, Blue Frog‘s 2-for-1 Monday Burger Night is widely known as one of the best value deals in town. Though it was all the rage when the deal first came out, it’s been around for a few years now and after going for monster burgers every Monday for a few weeks in a row, it’s not too long before you get burgered-out.
