Animal House: Holiday Benefit for Orphaned Animals

Posted: December 16th, 2011 | Author: LumDimSum | Filed under: Charity, Upcoming Events | Tags: Black Sesame Kitchen, Blake Stone-Banks, Chang Ayi's Place, Dan Levin, Gung Ho! Gourmet Pizza Factory, Hummingbird Therapeutic Spa Retreat, Po Home | No Comments »

My good friends Dan Levin, Blake Stone-Banks and Andrew have organized a charity event this Saturday that will be benefiting two animal shelters in Beijing – Chang Ayi’s Place and Po Home.

Taking place in their beautiful hutong home, there will be many orphaned puppies around for people to adopt, but really just a genius tactic to get your hearts to melt and your fat wallets emptied.

Happening from 7PM-midnight, there will be food, booze, silent auction, surprise performances and even some celebrities present!

GungHo! Pizza will be donating a bunch of their tasty pizza pies and vouchers from Black Sesame Kitchen and Hummingbird Therapeutic Spa Retreat.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, December 17, 2011
  • Time: 7PM-Midnight
  • Requested Donation: RMB 100+ per person
  • Location: 17 Paoju Hutong, off Dongzhimen Beixiaojie  东城区炮局胡同17号
  • Directions:  Paoju hutong is off Dongzhimen Beixiaojie. The hutong starts on the west side of Dongzhimen Beixiaojie, three traffic lights north of Gui Jie. (Dongzhimen Nei). The house, a one-minute walk down the hutong, is on the corner of Paoju Hutong and Paoju Toutiao. (Look for the blue light). The closest subway station is Yonghegong.

About Po Home

Founded in 2007 by a group of friends, Po Home recently built a shelter in south Beijing that can care for 50 dogs and two dozen cats at one time. Run by a corps of young volunteers, the organization not only rescues stray dogs and cats from the streets but also saves animals from meat markets. The volunteers work hard to find loving homes for the dogs and cats and to educate the public treating animals responsibly, and with kindness.

About Chang Ayi’s Place

Chang Ayi’s Place is an emergency shelter created by Chang Shuzhen on the outskirts of northern Beijing. Chang Ayi, 53, has been taking in stray and abused animals for eight years and until now, has received no outside assistance. Your donations will help volunteers convert her primitive shelter into a safe place for the 80 cats and dogs in her courtyard that have no protection from the elements.
