Unlimited Delicious: A Fresh Perspective

Posted: October 4th, 2011 | Author: LumDimSum | Filed under: Fashion | Tags: Fashion, Jeremy Huff, Unlimited Delicious 无限美味 | No Comments »

My good friend Jeremy Huff has recently launched his very own t-shirt brand, Unlimited Delicious featuring fresh-concept, Chinese language t-shirts that are comfortable, playful and make life that much more enjoyable.

“We are a company founded on the principle that life is perspective, and a life taken too seriously is a life not enjoyed.  We make t-shirts with simple designs that seek to challenge the assumptions embedded in the language that surrounds us everyday.  We are neither revolutionary nor political.  We just think that comfortable t-shirts with cool, funny and sometimes slightly irreverent designs on them make everyone’s life a little better.”  – Jeremy Huff, Founder of Unlimited Delicious

BJ Design Week: Do the ‘Design Hop’ on Dashilar Alley

Posted: October 1st, 2011 | Author: LumDimSum | Filed under: A Day In My Life, Art, Fashion, Film & Movie Reviews, Upcoming Events | 1 Comment »

An incredibly interesting and historic street lined with various shops, restaurants and cafes, Dashilar Alley is currently featuring 20 different exhibitions and events from around the world.

“This is all a part of an effort to bring a renewed public awareness to Dashilar that, it is hoped, will help transform the area in a more sensitive, organic way. The aim is to attract Beijing’s creative community to the neighborhood while respecting, and engaging with, the local community population, historic urban fabric and rich layering of existing buildings.”

Many of these exhibitions have taken over vacant storefronts and other spaces are taken over by temporary artist installations and cafes, alongside pop-up shops from leading brands and independent boutiques.

Two of my favorite spaces in Dashilar Alley include: Wuhao Curated Design and Fashion Shop’s temporary take-over of an old brothel turned teahouse (located on Zhujia Hutong Alley) and also the former electrical relay factory showcasing various young talents from China and abroad (FEI Space with exclusive pop-up collaboration of Topshop and Topman collections, AnyShopStyle.com launching with London-based Chinese designer Yang Du and designers Ran and Manchit Au), with live music and entertainment throughout.

“Handmade, custom-fitted, uttermost elegant and luxurious. Zegna Couture Collection is the realization of a modern desire that has been listed to.”

On Thursday, September 15, Ermenegildo Zegna held a fashion show and brand exhibition to celebrate its 20th year Anniversary in China.  Zegna was the first luxury label to open its own branded store in China back in 1991, and they truly remain as one of the most high-end, luxurious and respected fashion empires of today.

To mark this momentous occasion in reaching such an achievement, Zegna presented a special anniversary collection that “combines sartorial Italian style with Chinese touch, available in selected boutiques around the world and online on store.zegna.com”. During Beijing Design Week, there is a whole lot going on.  There isn’t quite a published schedule of events yet, but you can be sure to get the following:

SUMO TIME: Hatsune’s 10 Year Party + Costume Ideas

Posted: August 3rd, 2011 | Author: LumDimSum | Filed under: Fashion, Foodies & Dining Scene, Special Events, Upcoming Events | Tags: 10 Year Anniversary Party, DJ Patrick Yu, Hatsune Sanlitun, Japanese food, sake, sushi | 2 Comments »

sumo time

I think it’s safe to say that everyone is fascinated by sumo wrestling.  Essentially, sumo fighters are massive, monster Japanese men tackling each other wearing giant diapers…which is pretty awesome if you ask me.

As much as I would love to get professional sumo wrestlers to perform their swift moves at Hatsune’s 10 Year Anniversary Party, I have to settle for the next best thing: ordering both blow-up and cushion sumo suits for us to battle/bounce off of one another!  Not quite as cool as the real deal, but should still be brilliant fun.

This Thursday, August 4, Hatsune will be hosting a monumental 10 year birthday party in its Sanlitun Village branch and we welcome all sushi friends and fans to join us!  We will be providing plenty of sushi, sake, cocktails and cake and throughout the night, DJ Patrick Yu will be in high-demand playing his much loved old skool tracks and Hatsune will be hosting plenty of fun activities including sumo wrestling and a deadly wasabi challenge for brave souls who dare to try for their chance to win a Hatsune voucher for RMB 1,000!  If you or any of your friends are interested in participating in Hatsune’s Wasabi Challenge, we will have a sign-up at the door.

wasabi_attackNow, Hatsune has got the sushi, sake, DJ, sumo suits and wasabi covered so all we ask is that everyone gets in the spirit by dressing up – anything goes as long as it’s Japanese!

“Inspired by the likes of Jackson Pollack and Cy Twombley, artists whose wives were strongly influential in their work and lives, Erdem takes his collection to a level of sophistication and dark maturity.”

With several accolades under his belt including the prestigious British Fashion Council Fashion Fund award, Royal College of Art graduate Erdem Moralioglu‘s unique use of print has been widely celebrated by fashion insiders.  His ability to incorporate graphics effortlessly into each collection makes each piece both whimsical and unique.

Based in London, this Canadian designer is known for his signature graphics and this collection features intricate lace work and “psychedelic prints”.  Part of the impressive line-up of international designers featured at this year’s Singapore Asia Fashion Exchange (AFX)’s Audi Fashion Festival, Erdem showcased his newest A/W 2011 collection.

Described as “fragile with dishevelled sex appeal”, Erdem’s newest Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection sees a vibrant palette of greens and blues dripping with fuchsias and reds.  Known for his graphic prints, Erdem’s signature flair for merging prints, fabrics and textures is prominent in this new collection.
