Only Until Dec. 20th: Soul Bowls Pop-Up at The Bookworm
Meet James and Dave (photo below). These are the guys I’ve heard so much about this past year and it’s an absolute pleasure to finally have the chance to officially introduce them both to you and all my lovely, insatiable LDS foodies.
Though many of you may know James and Dave from their last pop-up Buena Onda in China Central Place (huamao in Dawanglu), you’re all going to find out about their newest project called Soul Bowls in The Bookworm.

Celebrate Gung Ho Pizza’s Victory with Half Price Pizzas All Week!
For the second year running, Gung Ho! Pizza have won theBeijinger‘s annual Pizza Cup competition! Up against some serious competition, Gung Ho! has managed to keep the crown once again!
“The Gungsters were nearly toppled this year by a resurgent Annie’s, who was knocked out in earlier rounds in 2014. The final tally was 53 percent for Gung Ho and 44 percent for Annie’s (with three percent reporting that they hadn’t tried them both). Gung Ho, who started as the top seed in the Pizza Specialists division, made their way through the bracket with victories over some of the city’s best: Pizza Buona, Bottega, Pizza Plus, Tube Station, Great Leap Brewing #45, and finally, Annie’s.” – TheBeijinger, Read FULL article here!
For those who are not familiar with the brilliant and very lovable Gung Ho! Pizza brand, they’re unlike every other pizza in Beijing. Nothing like traditional Italian pizza and it’s not like the pizza Americans are used to either, Gung Ho! Pizza is its very own thing. For starters, they have whole wheat and gluten-free pizza crusts and they’re always changing up their menu with new creations popping up left and right. I certainly don’t see anyone else in town serving up a Holiday Turkey Pizza topped with “ender roast turkey and spiced pumpkin, creamy mashed potato and sweet sweet cranberry sauce. It’s even served with a side of gravy!”.

Mosto’s New Head Chef Juan Mateus from Bogota, Colombia will Tantalize Your Senses
A magical place decked out in candles and twinkling lights, Mosto is one of my top picks for a warm and cozy winter treat. And with the welcome new addition of a passionate head chef Juan Mateus (photo above) from Bogota, Colombia in their kitchen, foodies all over Beijing will be snatching up every last seat in a heartbeat.
If I do say so myself, Mosto is a spectacular spot for the BJ FOoDiEs team to have secured for one of their last monthly dinners of 2015! *Save the date: Sunday, November 29th!

Migas Hosts Tasting with the World’s Top Chilean Free Range Wagyu Beef
We’ve been to a countless number of wine tastings, craft beer tastings, cocktail tastings, but a wagyu tasting?!
We recently had the pleasure to be introduced to an exciting project that Chef Aitor Olabegoya at Migas has been incubating along with a cadre of others for more than a decade. If you’re anything like us then you’ll always stare wistfully at the beautiful but poverty inducing wagyu steaks on menus around town. So priced because the Japanese jealously guard their stocks of the gorgeous meat, but thanks to guys like Beef on Food, things are slowly changing.

Treat Yourself (and others!) to a Scrumptious Autumn Luncheon at Capital M
For my dear poor friend who just happened to be in Beijing on a very grey and gloomy day that was wet and rainy and just blah, I knew just the place to brighten her spirits. A very special place in Beijing, Capital M is a guaranteed show-stopper. Everything from its stunning design to the five-star service and beautiful dishes, it’s always at the top of my list to impress guests and show them a side of Beijing that’s anything but grey.
As soon as my friend stepped into Capital M, I could see it in her eyes, she was in absolute awe. As an aspiring illustrator, she was delighted to see all the beautiful, vibrant colors that fill the walls of Capital M and the cozy fireplaces was exactly what we both needed to defrost and reboot.
