Beijing’s dry, bitter winter weather can leave me feeling withered and unbearable cold until I hear the words ‘hot pot’ or ‘spicy curries’ and it’s as if someone injected me with a boost of motivation.
There’s nothing better than a warm, hearty meal of spicy curries alongside BBQ skewers and fresh naan bread on a cold, dark winter’s eve.
“Indian spices and killer awesome curries is exactly what we need to battle dropping temperatures and terrible pollution.” – BJ FOoDiEs Team

Get Ready to Rumble with White Collar Boxing’s Brawl on the Wall
A flagship event three years running in Shanghai, Brawl on the Bund was adapted to Brawl on the Wall when it was first initiated into Beijing’s social calendar last year. Hosted in both cities by White Collar Boxing, this black-tie charity fighting event gathers over 1,000 people in Shanghai and just over 500 in Beijing (not bad for the first ever Beijing event).
The upcoming Brawl on the Wall - White Collar Charity Boxing Gala Dinner will be held this coming Saturday, November 16th at the Renaissance Capital Hotel.

After a cozy, intimate BJ FOoDiEs dinner at newly opened Hani Gejiu 哈尼个旧 Yunnan Restaurant last month, the BJ FOoDiEs team is switching things up with their upcoming October charity dinner event by hosting at the Latin BBQ Grill, The Big Smoke.
Perfect to cater for a large group of hungry hippos (or better known as the devout following of adventurous foodies based in Beijing), The Big Smoke is offering up their two main indoor dining rooms for a combined capacity of about 100 pax. That’s a whole lot feasting for a whole lot of hungry hippos!

The Big Smoke will be hosting our October feast with a menu so good that you just might think it’s a trick. Don’t worry, we don’t mess around when it comes to good food! So go ahead and start drooling cause this menu is going to feature some of their top selling menu items including their Soy & Ginger Ribs, Truffle Mac n Cheese and homemade chorizo! – Beijing FOoDiEs Team

Time to Reserve Your Seats for CFFC 2013 on November 2nd in Beijing
The fifth annual Chi Fan for Charity (CFFC) dinner event is once again taking place on the first Saturday of November – November 2nd to be precise and tickets just went on sale this week. Less than a month away, you’ll want to start figuring out which restaurant and table host you’ll want to book while they’re still available online!
An event praised for bringing together local opinion leaders, celebrities and other charitable-minded individuals to raise money for worthwhile philanthropic causes at Beijing’s top restaurants, CFFC is an inspiring event that involves such a strong community of individuals that really rallies their friends and associates to make this one of the most highly anticipated events of the year.
If you are unfamiliar with CFFC, the concept is easy enough to digest:

BJ FOoDiEs is About to Take Over Hani Gejiu Yunnan Restaurant
After a wonderful dining experience at their soft opening last month, I can’t say I’m surprised to hear that Hani Gejiu 哈尼个旧 Yunnan Restaurant has been booked out with regulars who can’t get enough of that Yunnan goodness. Good for them, but bad for me and my foodie friends who have unsuccessfully tried to book a table twice in the past couple of weeks.
So I’m stoked to finally lock-in enough seats for myself and my foodie family at the upcoming BJ FOoDiEs event. An event that offers brand-new restaurants the opportunity to bring 50-80+ Beijing-based foodies and community influencers eager to serve as guinea pigs, this isn’t necessarily something that a packed-out restaurant like Hani Gejiu needs. But the restaurant’s co-owner Chef Sue Zhou has been a long-time member of BJ FOoDiEs herself and she was happy to accommodate the devout community that is BJ FOoDiEs. For me, one of the most convincing reasons to support this group is to show some love to all the incredibly generous restaurant who close their doors to the public and agree to exclusively serve up the cult-following, food-loving, big-hearted charity-giving group that is BJ FOoDiEs.
Join them this Sunday, September 29th for a Yunnan feast by Chef Sue.
