An Evening of Music for Charity

International Festival Chorus (IFC) is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with its annual tradition of hosting a fundraising outdoor madrigals performance for a lovely, musical outdoor picnic atmosphere for a sponsored charity organization on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

This year’s featured charity of choice is Half the Sky, an  internationally and Chinese-registered charity which works with local government partners across China to provide support for orphans helping them join new families.

Located in the Garden of the British Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing, come prepared with a picnic basket full of goodies, a rug/blanket to sit on and if there’s still room in your bag/picnic basket, then you can throw in a few bottles of bubbly as this is a celebratory event.

BJ FOoDiEs: “BLIND” Charity Dinner Back at Mare

Mare was one of the best ever BJ FOoDiEs dinners I have ever attended so to hear that they will be re-hosting another event at this venue is like music to my ears.  The food was not only generously portioned with plenty to go around (sometimes restaurants have not provided enough food for all the hungry foodies) and it was delicious.

It’s been two years since Mare hosted their last successful event with BJ FOoDiEs and that was when they had just moved into a new location.  Mare has been around as one of Beijing’s oldest Spanish restaurants to pass the test of time. It’s been around for long before I came to Beijing 6 years prior and although they have long been a stable in the Beijing dining scene, the restaurant has just recently undergone a facelift (according to the owner Heather), and they are anxious to get the BJ FOoDiEs family back again for a feast to support BETHEL China.

“Mare is THE eatery for institutional tapas & authentic spanish cuisine. Stylishy-attired waitstaff are renowned for their topnotch service & the upmarket ambience of the restaurant is perfect for both romantic affairs and parrrtayy atmosphere.” – Xixi Cheng, BJ FOoDiEs Founder
