Since Biteapitta’s come out with a new menu featuring some very mouth-watering photos, I’ve started to branch out more and more from my regular 5 staple dishes that I’ve been so content ordering time and time again after all these years (scroll down for Top Hits List).
I’ve previously steered clear of these “house specials” since these prices are quite a jump up from their list of salads, pitta sandwiches, stuffed vegetables that all stand at great value at about RMB 40-50 per person per meal. But what I’ve since realized is that the portion of these signature Biteapitta dishes are enough to feed 2-3 adults or a small family and they are just so so so YUM! With two options for half portion for whole, I say make the leap and go big so you can take the leftovers home! And both the stuffed chicken and stuffed lamb neck come with a generous side of Tabbouleh Salad.
Whole Chicken with Rice, Minced Beef, Pine Nuts Stuffing, cooked with olive oil, served on laffa pitta and fried onions with side of Tabbouleh (RMB 75/110)
Stuffed Chicken Beauty Shot
Stuffed Lamb Neck with Rice, Minced Beef, Pine Nuts Stuffing, cooked with olive oil, served on rice bedding with side of Tabbouleh (RMB 120/190)
That Side of Tabbouleh Though…
Other LDS Top Hits @Biteapitta:
10 ‘Mezze’ Dishes (extra RMB 55 with any main course)
Like a “Best of” or “Top Hits” in a record album, this 10 ‘Mezze’ Dish is just that for Biteapitta’s customers who love a bit of variety. From their ever-popular hummus to baba ganoush to beet salad, marinated peppers, pickled radish and fresh yogurt, this is a way for you to get a taste of all their fantastic starters without having to order all 10 in standard portion size.
Biteapitta’s Healthy Salad with Honey Mustard Dressing (RMB 32)
You have the option to choose other dressing options, but this Honey Mustard dressing was made for this salad. Don’t be fooled by its name, the portion of honey and mustard is not equally applied. The dressing’s mustard flavor is very mild whereas the sweet, sticky honey helps to off-set any bitterness in the arugula and fresh greens that are generously layered in the big salad bowl it’s served in.
Stuffed Zucchini with Minced Meat and Rice in a pool of tomato sauce and served alongside couscous (RMB 33)
Great value for a healthy, balanced meal. I like to spread out the couscous to soak up that pool of tomato sauce and break up the stuffed zucchini and spill out its filled-to-the-zucchini-brim ingredients. But that’s maybe just me. Whether you have your own special way of appreciating this dish, it’s a winner any way you do it.
A Classic Menu Favorite: Hummus & Falafel Pita Sandwich (RMB 30)
Stuffed in soft, fresh pita bread, the Hummus & Falafel Pita Sandwich holds about six falafels (fried balls from ground chickpeas) with hummus spread throughout and topped with cucumbers, tomatoes and sour cream. It’s perfectly proportioned leaving me full but not stuffed and the fact that this is just RMB 30 on the menu makes it a real steal.
Who Knew Biteapitta Could be Capable of Such a Perfect Slice of Cheesecake (RMB 20)
While their Baklava and Chocolate Mousse were both pretty solid, I was blown away by their Cheesecake. Honestly, if anyone asked me where my favorite place to find cheesecake in Beijing, I never would have thought to consider Biteapitta in the running. But these guys make a mean cheesecake that’s incredibly thick, creamy, and rich with a crumbly cookie crust. Exactly how cheesecake ought to be, and at only RMB 20 per generous slice, I say ‘treat yo’self’ and just give in to a slice of this irresistibly good cheesecake.
