Add Some Spicy Flair to Your Weekday with Karaiya’s New Set Lunch Menu
While there are plenty of superb lunch deals in the Sanlitun area, it’s not very often that you come across a thoughtful set lunch menu at a Chinese restaurant.
From my experience, most Chinese restaurants either offer some sort of buffet spread or it’s ordered a la carte as you would at dinner. And I’m talking about the restaurants with a whole range of dishes on offer, not your neighborhood hole-in-the-wall 拉面 noodle or 盖饭 shop. And with so many of the Western restaurants all around town offering great value 2 to 3 course set lunch menus, Indian restaurants offering massive lunch buffet spreads, it makes me wonder why more Chinese restaurants don’t offer the same bang for your buck at lunch to keep up with their neighboring competitors.
Always one step ahead of the rest, Karaiya Spice House has launched a set of 9 different weekday set lunches designed for those of us who don’t want to waste too much brain power thinking about what you want to order for lunch (you’re only half-way done with your work day!) and if you prefer your lunches to be speedier than you average dinner experience.
By the same team behind the wildly successful Hatsune Restaurant Group (who also happen to have a very popular weekday lunch set), I introduce to you Karaiya Spice House’s new lunch menu available Monday through Friday from 11:30PM-2PM.
Hunan Spicy Pork Stir-fry with Vegetables (RMB 68) / Smoked Chicken, Fish and Pork (RMB 78)
Sliced Marinated Pork over Savory Dried Vegetables (RMB 78) / Beef Chow Mein (RMB 75)
Karaiya’s Additional Set Lunches:
Diced Chicken Stir-fry with Chinese Yams (RMB 68)
Spicy Chicken Gizzard Fried with Sour Peppers (RMB 72)
Salt & Pepper Prawns (RMB 78)
Smoked Ham with Radish (RMB 75)
Smoked Tofu and Assorted Mushrooms in a Clay Pot (RMB 68)
*All lunch sets come complete with an appetizer, soup, stir-fried vegetables, rice and fresh fruit
Diced Chicken Stir-fry with Chinese Yams (RMB 68) *Photo depicts dinner portion
With all 9 set lunch menus ranging between RMB 68-82, this is just under the set price range of most Sanlitun lunch deals (excluding Indian/Pakistani buffets that are as low as RMB 55, most weekday lunches in Sanlitun run between RMB 78-108 per person). Rally up a few friends to join you and if each of you order different sets, then there will be plenty to share and more variety.
*Note: If you find yourself running out of rice quicker than your spicy main dish, then Karaiya is happy to give you a free refill – just ask! But if you ask me, the best solution to taming the fire building up in your mouth and all over your lips is Karaiya’s Peanut Milk drink (yes, even better than a big mouthful of rice!)
