With the sudden drop in temperature, Agua’s taken the initiative to warm up our weekends with their updated Infinity Weekend Brunch menu which now includes a beautiful range of warming dishes including their Beef Bourguignon, Marinated Pork Belly and Icelandic Halibut with pumpkin puree.
A weekend brunch that was first launched back in April (pretty much right after they launched their Spring menu), this updated menu now highlights a lot of their new seasonal fall and winter dishes.
“Agua’s Infinity Brunch is perfect for the standard Sanlitun scene-sters and abundant Beijing brunchers throughout the city. For fall we’ll be switching some dishes to offer more seasonal tastes for the chillier months and we will be also adding a set brunch dining option. Our take on the all-you-can-eat/drink brunch experience is all about freshness with everything cooked a la minute. RMB 298 for infinite food, plus RMB168 for infinite cocktails including free flow Bloody Mary’s, Spanish Mimosas, red/white wine, sangria or cava.” – Sarah Ting-Ting Hou, Agua’s Marketing Manager
For anyone who’s looking for a place to celebrate or just enjoy an indulgent weekend treat, Agua’s Infinity Brunch is exactly as it promises – an infinite amount of tapas-sized Spanish dishes made fresh-to-order for you to savor and satiate till you drop.

As much as I loved their previous menu, this revamped menu is even better.
Their new Land and Sea dishes are phenomenal (see photos below!) and they’ve swapped out all their previous dessert items for 4 newly improved delectable dessert additions. And I’m pleased that though the majority of the menu is new, they’ve still kept a handful of my favorite dishes including their three ever-popular egg dishes (Alaskan salmon eggs Benedict, sunny side-up duck eggs with chorizo, and homemade sausage trio with a poached egg), seafood paella, and Argentinean brine boiled prawns.
The only thing I’ll warn you about in advance is that even though it’s all-you-can-eat, they only allow you to order dishes per person and in limited quantities. I support this notion to ensure freshness, smooth service and decrease waste, but if you’re coming with a big appetite, I recommend that you also come with a big group of fellow foodies so that you can all order together and share plates to sample as many of the menu’s 20+ dishes as possible.
Agua’s Infinity Brunch Ordering Guide:
To Start: 2 Courses per person
To follow: 1 course per person
*Order at your heart’s desire but also at your stomach’s content
I’m pleased to say that two of us smashed out 17 of the infinity brunch’s 23 menu items and we were comfortably full (we learned our lesson last time after over-stuffing ourselves until we could barely pick ourselves up to leave the restaurant!).
The price for Agua’s Infinity Brunch is RMB 298 for unlimited food between 12PM-2:30PM (on Saturdays and Sundays) and you can also add on free-flow drinks (Cava, Spanish Mimosa, Bloody Mary, Sangria, Red or White Wine) for an extra RMB 168.
If you accidentally sleep in too late and worry you can’t get your money’s worth by coming in after 1PM, you can opt for their 3-course set lunch menu for RMB 198 with free flow beverage options still available.

Agua’s NEW! Weekend Set Brunch Option
Since we came ready to plow through the new infinity brunch menu, you can see a snapshot summary below of Agua’s new Infinity Brunch menu with cocktails to kickstart our weekend:

Soup, Salads & Starters
Pumpkin soup, pumpkin seeds and balsamic reduction
Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad
Stewed Lentils with Chorizo and Pork Ribs
Eggs
Beetroot Alaskan salmon eggs Benedict
Sunny Side-Up Duck Eggs Served with Hash Browns & Homemade Chorizo Sausage

Steak Tartar with mustard grains and poached quail egg
Icelandic Halibut served with Pumpkin puree and vegetables “escabeche”
Beef Tenderloin with sweet potato and bacon puree, green asparagus and beef jus
Classic Beef Bourguignon
Delectable Sweets:
Roasted Apple Crumble & Caramel Ice Cream
Whipped Cream & Sour Cherries
Classic Creme Brulee
Peanut Ice Cream & Chocolate Fudge Crepe
Though I miss Agua’s signature burger on their new brunch menu (see previous Agua Infinity Brunch post here), the new Land and Sea dishes were the main highlights of our brunch experience, especially their Steak Tartare, Icelandic halibut and Marinated Pork Belly.
When it comes to an infinity brunch experience, the last thing you want to do is save the best for last so keeping in this strategy, I’d recommend ordering all the Land and Sea dishes first, then the Egg dishes, and depending on how much stomach space you have to spare, I’d be selective in just ordering a few of the starter and savory starches so that you can finish strong by tasting your way through all of their desserts. I was particularly pleased by their creme brulee (yes, we ordered seconds!) and the roasted apple crumble came a close second.

NEWS! Agua’s Sweet 6 Anniversary Party:
Agua’s 6th Year Anniversary
“The Sweet 6”
Date: November 14th, 2013
Time: 11pm-2:30am
Last year was a blur of incredible tapas, crafty Hayman gin cocktails, a giant cake cake in the shape of the number 5, so much splendid food and friends and great, great fun.
I’m delighted to share that Agua will once again be throwing another epic party celebrating its 6-year anniversary with free-flowing cava, wine, gin and vodka cocktails, and musical beats by Alex Molina from Mosto! Space is limited so book tickets in advance as they will not accept walk-ins once they are at capacity!
“It’s been 6 years for Agua in Beijing but only our second anniversary party. With the success from our party last year we think we’ll make Agua’s birthday celebration an annual party now for our special guests. For this year’s anniversary we’re extending the hours, Jordi will be cooking up some canapes and confectioneries and we’ll have lots more drinks in store for our guests, including bubbly, house pours of Hayman’s gin and Infina vodka, Grand Marnier cocktails and wine. Looking forward to seeing you all there!” – Sarah Ting-Ting Hou, Agua’s Marketing Manager
Pre-sale tickets RMB200, and they will be RMB 250 at the door, please call 86-10-5208-6188 to reserve tickets.

6 picks might normally be a struggle for most restaurants menu, but given how extensive and frequently changing Agua’s selection is, this was much harder than I thought it would be.
1. Suckling pig. Perhaps not the most original choice, but it’s a signature dish for a reason. Most delightful piece of meat you can eat in Beijing (that isn’t a duck).
2. Beer & Mustard Marinated Pork Belly. Beer and Pork Belly – two of my favourite things in the world, together. Enough said.
3. Beetroot Alaskan Salmon Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict was my ritual weekend café brunch as a reward for a busy week of studying during law school in Australia. It’s one of the foods that I miss most in China and is hardest to find excellently done here. The Agua version is a doozy. Perfectly poached egg (‘cos that’s like Eggs 101), thick piece of beautiful smoked salmon, with the beetroot adding a sophisticated and surprising twist. Wonderfully rich, yet not overwhelming, hollandaise sauce. Just give me some blue sky and I can pretend I am in Melbourne again.
4. Lobster rice. I love seafood, and sometimes I miss the ocean. This dish brings the ocean back, at least to my mouth.
5. Pumpkin soup. The fanciest pumpkin soup I’ve had in my life. It may still just be a pumpkin soup in the end, but winter is coming, and this thing is as homely as it gets. My girlfriend hates pumpkin and even she likes this soup.
6. Hazelnut ice cream with chocolate ganache. I’m not sure if it’s still available, but it’s my girlfriend’s pick. She has a very big, but still very discerning, sweet tooth. This thing made her very happy. Which made me very happy.

Dear Chef Jordi,
On my birthday – coming up soon, I would love to have, in this exact order, the following six sweet wishes:
• Roasted Apple Crumble
• Crispy Ham & Potato Croquettes
• Pumpkin Soup with balsamic Reduction
• Crème Brule
• Beetroot Alaskan salmon eggs Benedict
• 3 Homemade Sausages, Hash Brows, roasted cherry tomatoes and poached egg
Yours, Ana
For my 6 sweet wishes, I would like:
To start, a selection of Spanish ham and cheese with some warm, crusty bread and some top quality olive oil
Next up, a fresh sardine and tomato salad, accompanied by a light white wine. Simple and delicious.
Onto the main courses: first up a Spanish seafood stew. Hearty and warming. Great for the cold Beijing winter.
For me a steak is always on the agenda so for the main event, Jordi’s favourite cut of beef cooked medium rare and served with a big, full bodied Rioja.
After this, a light sorbet to cleanse the palate. Zesty Valencian orange flavour I think should do the trick.
For dessert a decadent chocolate souffle and a glass of Port.
Thanks Chef Jordi!
