“In it’s inaugural year, the festival is designed to highlight world-class local beers and breweries, while giving people an excuse to celebrate the harvest season with good friends, good food, and good fun. A festival created to support the growth of the Chinese craft beer and slow food movements, there is no admission fee and parents are welcome to make use of the venue’s large outdoor playground.” – The Slow Boat Team
With 12 different breweries from all over China (Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Hefei & Qingdao), you can expect to see over 50 different varieties of craft beer to choose from. With the majority of the breweries coming from Beijing, it’s nice to see that our craft beer scene is growing exponentially after pioneers Slow Boat and Great Leap started up the craft beer scene in 2009 & 2010.
“We’re excited to see the growth of craft beer expanding outside Beijing and Shanghai. There will be breweries from 7 different provinces exhibiting at the Festival, which is pretty amazing.” – Becky Lane, Slow Boat’s Marketing Manager
With an emphasis on creativity, this autumn beer festival has been selective with both their invited breweries and food vendors
“The focus on this Festival really centers on the seasonal aspect of craft brewing. We’ve asked the brewers to come to the Festival with their most exciting, experimental Autumn brews. What we hope people come away with is the message that great craft beer isn’t a stand-alone consumable; it’s as much about the people involved in it’s creation, ingredients and agricultural cycles, not to mention culture influences, as it is about making something that tastes like beer.” – Becky Lane
For those who feel like getting out to Lido is a lot of effort (though it’s really not as far as you might think!), you’ll be happy to hear that Slow Boat Brewery is teaming up with UBER to bring you fancy transportation so you can rock up (and stumble back) in stylish cars.
Just send the UBER code “DrinkSlowBoatBeer” and you’ll get hooked up with 200RMB UBER credits of your first 2 rides when you sign-up (up to 100RMB each).
And for those who have one too many craft beers and require somewhere swanky before their hangovers ease off, EAST Hotel is also offering discounted rates for those staying in the hotel that weekend.
Without further delay, here are the majority of the craft breweries you can get to know on a first-name basis when you head over this weekend! A mix of newbies and old-hands at this artisan craft, this line-up is consistent in their commitment to serve world-class brews.

You can satisfy your food cravings with a little bit of everything from craft sausages and Australian meat pies to Moroccan and Korean-Mexican fusion tacos and California-Japanese sushi.
