WUHAO Curated Shop Beijing

One of Beijing’s most beautiful curated boutique shops, WUHAO will sadly be leaving their current location at Mao’er 35, a magical courtyard space formerly occupied by Wanrong, the Last Empress, before she was married to Puyi. Surrounded by history, this unique shop was once visited only by pre-booked appointments and hidden behind a hefty gate with a small peephole to see who was waiting to enter.

Created back in Spring 2010, the WUHAO features original art, clothing and jewelry from Chinese and foreign designers in a unique setting.

Known and respected throughout the creative community, the WUHAO brand is all about cross-branding and collaborations with young and upcoming Chinese designers, giving them a platform to showcase their pieces in a gorgeous environment among eye-catching installations and seasonal displays.

“Born from Isabelle Pascal’s enthusiasm for the “5 elements” of Chinese philosophy, as well as the energy found in the Chinese creative scene, WUHAO is a holistic project that mixes design, fashion, products, visions and insights. A young, fresh-thinking platform, it aims to showcase and foster the most talented and eco-conscious designers, brands and talents from China and abroad.”

Known by many only by word-of-mouth, WUHAO was one of Beijing’s best-kept secrets and quoted by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the “20 terrific reasons to visit China”.

It’s heartbreaking to see such a gem like WUHAO say goodbye (hoping it’s only a very temporary goodbye), but they invite all to come out and celebrate all the iconic, fantastic pieces by talented designers and artists that have been showcased throughout the past three years.

Though we see so many wonderful venues and good things we discover in China move or leave, we just have to pray they will somehow find a way to continue forward somewhere, somehow.
