So Gung Ho! for Jun Trinh’s New Summer Menu

How cool is this pizza box?!?  This says gungho! all over it and like everything associated with the brand Gung Ho! Pizza, it is just plain awesome.

After hearing that Jun Trinh was the man behind Gung Ho!’s new summer menu, I knew it would be an instant hit.  We dined at Gungho! and enjoyed “a night of Jun”, making a point to order a whole meal of his new menu additions.

“These salads are light but filling, featuring the unique flavors of the (South East Asia) region with a western gourmet twist, and I didn’t even have to leave my apartment to design them!” – Jun on his new summer salads

We tried two out of the three new salads Jun’s created and while both the  Tropical Salad and Vietnamese Chicken Salad were both tasty and summery, the Tropical Salad was the big winner. Both of us preferred the arugula and perilla salad over the bed of romaine lettuce and although I am crazy about Gung Ho!’s Pumpkin + Sweet Potato Pizza (see previous review here), I’m not sure it had the same effect as ingredients in a salad.

Tropical Salad: Starring pineapple and smoked tofu topped with toasted walnuts and shredded coconut and tossed through an arugula and perilla salad.
Vietnamese Chicken Salad: Roasted pumpkin and sweet potato, spicy grilled chicken and an original coconut lime vinaigrette on a bed of romaine lettuce.

After the two salads, of course we had to try one of his new pizza creations – the Pesto Chicken (photo below).  Although the pizza was good, I still prefer one of Gung Ho!’s original menu pizzas.  Personal favorites are the Chicken + Camembert or Pumpkin + Sweet Potato. And always, go for the organic whole-wheat crust.

Last but certainly not least, we couldn’t help but satisfy our sweet tooth with some Gung Ho! dessert to finish out the great meal.  Jun’s menu items were delish, but their four egg-tarts were calling my name.  Freshly baked and delightfully tasty, they completely exceeded my expectations considering I had not expected a pizza chain run by a couple New Zealanders to pump out such awesome local Cantonese desserts (Jade & John: I mean no disrespect, just pleasantly surprised!).  But unlike the egg tarts, unfortunately Gung Ho!’s Double Chocolate Fudge Brownie tasted like chalk and was entirely disappointing.

Gung Ho!’s Egg Tarts were Egg-cellent

(sorry, I couldn’t help myself)

Hopefully this article will encourage you to get on the phone and place your next meal order with Gung Ho! pizza.

If you haven’t tried their new summer menu by celebrity chef Jun Trinh, then I highly recommend it.  And if you haven’t tried Gung Ho! at all, you are seriously missing out.

And with their Money Back Guarantee, you have nothing to lose.  See below:

The GHP Money Back Guarantee
