Looking at these four smiling faces, you might not suspect the stomach capabilities we possess. In fact, I don’t think any of us even knew how much we could handle. Going into this dinner, we weren’t even particularly hungry by any means. This was a standard dinner that came about rather spontaneously and out of nowhere, we were suddenly overcome by our cravings and transformed into Modo Monsters.
Initially, we ordered about 8 dishes off the menu thinking that would be more than enough food to share between the 4 of us. But looking at this new menu, we all had our own favorites to choose from, plus a few new menu items we had not previously tried. After finishing all that we ordered each time, we kept adding more dishes until we realized we had consumed the majority of the entire menu!
Modo’s Menu:

LumDimSum Snapshots of Modo’s Dishes:

Complimentary Bread / Venison Tenderloin Carpaccio with Smoked Oil, Arugula & Aged Manchego Cheese (RMB 85)

Warm Octopus Salad with Shredded Crispy Potatoes (RMB 60) / Seared Scallops Caramelized with Paul Sugar, Spicy Polenta, Remoulade Sauce & Garlic Chips (RMB 75)

Wagyu Beef Meatball with Heirloom Tomato Sauce (RMB 80) / Australian Grain-Beef Tournedos, Roasted Pumpkin, Rochefort Butter & Wine Reduction (RMB 120)

Pork Tenderloin Anticucho with Lily Root, Roasted Vegetables & Citrus Reduction (RMB 75) / Crispy Pork Belly with Roasted Red Apples (RMB 65)

Slow Braised Lamb Shamk with Black Truffle Mashed Potatoes (RMB 85)

Seared Langoustine with Chickpeas & Chorizo Stew / Spinach & Ricotta Malfatti with Roasted Pears, Mushrooms & Shaved Pecorino Cheese (RMB 65)

Dill-crusted Codfish with Wild Rice & Mushroom Pilaf, Confit Fennel, Lemongrass Veloute (RMB 95) / Cappelletti Filled with Shrimp, Leeks & Walnuts, Creamy Pesto Sauce (RMB 75)

Dessert: White Chocolate Mousse with Black Currant Sorbet & Tuile (RMB 65) / Nutella Creme Brulee with Roasted Hazlenus
Highlights of the meal were definitely the Warm Octopus Salad, Wagyu Beef Meatball, Australian Grain-Beef Tournedos and the ultimate winner was by far the Lamb Shank with Black Truffle Mashed Potatoes. The lamb was off-the-hook-good – super flavorful, tender and really just melted in my mouth!
Modo consistently delivers exceptional dishes with high-quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Each dish is presented so well and unique in it’s own right.
The only dish that failed to meet expectations was the pesto cappelletti which the pasta was quite hard and not cooked soft enough.
After 12 dishes, I can’t believe we still managed to clean off two more desserts to top off our food comas. (But then again, I guess there’s always room for dessert!) In the end, it was all exceptionally delicious but I really don’t know how we managed to function after consuming such a gluttonous amount of food!
