Among Time Out’s 2010 Food Awards for Beijing’s best restaurants, they are hosting a new category this year: ‘The Readers’ Choice Best Restaurant”, where YOU get to voice which restaurant you consider to be Beijing’s crème de la crème. (Vote 4 HATSUNE!!!)

Big Comeback for Biteapitta

Biteapitta is BACK, Baby!!

This place is one of my all-time favorites and I’m so happy they are now in Sanlitun’s Tongli Studio!  And to think that I used to make special trips out to Super Bar Street (by Lady Street) just for my beloved Hummus & Falafel Pitta Sandwich!

Bitapitta has found its home just between Donner Kebab and Le Petit Gourmand in Tongli Studio.  The bright new restaurant is lined with windows for a vibrant atmosphere filled with light (I came during the day). The seating set up is canteen style with a few high tables with stools and a long counter that runs along the windowed wall.

Their menu has remained the same as before and with set lunch sets from 11AM-2PM priced between RMB 45-60.  Menu is inclusive of appetizers (RMB 22-30), Hummus Corner (RMB28-45), Salads (RMB 35-40), Main Grilled Selection (RMB 45-85), Pitta Sandwiches (RMB 20-28), and Pitta Nini’s (RMB 25-35). Drinks include coffee, tea, ice lemonade, soda, fresh fruit juice and yogurt-based smoothies (RMB 25). They also have a limited wine menu.

Best Part:

• Hummus, baba ganoush appetizers, and their pitta sandwiches are to die for!
• Healthy, fresh food leaving you feeling so satisfied
• Quality is consistent
• Portions are generous, value is unbelievably good
• Super friendly staff (a lot are the same as before)

Comments:

• If anyone can turn around Tongli’s reputation, it’s Biteapitta!!  Biteapitta is a delightful escape from the grungy exterior street.
• I wish their menu had pictures
• Not sure how dinner experience would be with the loud music and drunkards stumbling around
